About the Artist
Rose DiSalvo
Hello! I'm Rose (17), and I'm from Tampa, Florida. Art has always been my favorite subject and is my favorite way to express myself. My goal is to share my artwork and help others dreams become reality with my art!
Where it all began
I've been painting since I was old enough to hold a brush — first in watercolors at the kitchen table, then in oils once I discovered how they could hold light in a way nothing else could.
My work is rooted in the landscapes and people I love. Rolling hills at golden hour. A figure caught in afternoon sun. The way a meadow looks just before a storm. I paint what moves me, and I hope it moves you too.
Every piece I make is original and one of a kind. I don't do prints or reproductions. When a painting leaves my studio, it goes to one home — and that feels right to me.
I want people to look at my work and feel something they can't quite name. That's the whole point.

How I work
Observation
I spend time with a subject before I ever pick up a brush — watching how the light moves, how the colors shift. Painting is mostly looking.
Underpainting
I block in the composition in thin, warm washes. This is where I find the bones of the piece — the values, the movement, the mood.
Building layers
Oil paint rewards patience. I build up color slowly, letting each layer dry before adding the next. The final surface has depth you can almost feel.
Knowing when to stop
The hardest part. A painting is done when it has what it needs — not when it has everything I could give it. I've learned to trust that feeling.
